Williams College monument man
I'd been thinking since I first heard the movie publicity that the story of the Monuments Men sounded a bit familiar. Turns out I remembered pretty accurately.

Whenever I am sad I just think about how the Welsh word for microwave is popty ping. That…that helps. -
Asterix movies: some good, some less so
Watched a couple of movies of Asterix le gaulois, to varying effect.
Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre (in English as Asterix and Cleopatra); Gérard Depardieu and others. Excellent, highly recommended. Sticks close to the Goscinny/Uderzo original book except where they were deliberately adding new modern jokes (like "Can you hear me now?"). ( Read more... ) -

Dancing ladies day
Is there any way to look up a tune I recognize out loud, say online, but I can't place it by name or title or exactly where it comes from? I could sing/hum it face to face and might or might not get the idea across, and I know I have friends (some here on LJ) who can write music to each other perfectly well, but here I'm limited to what *I* can hum ( Read more... ) -

Presents on the surface as a murder mystery/thriller, but that is so not the point.

Bright, sunny, and chilly out there-perfect weather for scaring groundhogs (and the forecast says it's going to cloud up later, like the bright sun was laid on specifically for the morning but not the day's weather for real).
