I'm trying to prove a point to someone.
Everyone who has read Lord of the Flies, preferably in an english class, please respond to this.
And I know that's most of you.
What do the characters Simon and Piggy represent? Two seperate things.
Thanks.

Is Simon or Piggy the superego?
(psst Jack is the evil one. Simon is the one who talks to the LOTF incarnate.)

Piggy is reason and order. He symbolizes civilized lifstyle.
I was going to say something else, but "civilized civilization" sounded a bit redundant.

Piggy = civilization.
This is how it is.
Also: if anyone tells you that it is NOT religious in nature, that Simon is NOT a religious type figure, inform them that "Lord of the Flies" is a translation of Baalzevuv, a name for satan which translates to... LORD OF THE MOTHERFUCKING FLIES.
if you want to be freud about it...
Simon = superego
Piggy = Ego
Jack = Id
But that's stupid.
Because Simon = jesus
Piggy = civilization
Jack = entropy.
