You may or may not have read my summary of the two NCIS fics that I finally decided to give up on. (Here if you care: https://hackey-mcslashy.livejournal.com/53561.html) In it I mentioned that I had 4 WiPs for NCIS on the go and I was giving up on 2 of them. Well, I'm pretty sure I'm giving up on another one ( Read more... )

I am sorry that you are leaving the fandom, but I can't blame you. My interest has been waiting for a while, ever since Gibbs it was so mean to Tony last season… Or was it the season before? Anyway, it's not easy to get into writing about characters who have been messed up by the riders/storyline.

Interestingly enough, I have had a western running around in my little brain for a while. I used to write for a western fandom and I'm surprised that more writers don't write NCIS as a Western. Lots of opportunity for characters getting in dire situations/hurt comfort.

I still have one AU that I'm really close to finishing, so I'll be posting that when it's finished but after that I'm done. The last series I saw of NCIS was either 8 or 9, and at this point I feel more like I'm writing about the version of Tony and Gibbs that I've written/read in fanfiction than about the versions on the show.

I agree it does lend itself to westerns quite easily, especially with Gibbs' quiet but tough nature. The story I was writing had Gibbs owning a saloon and being a part-time retrieval specialist, and Tony being the son of a cattle rustler, who gets gifted to/rescued by Gibbs. In the end I was going to have Sheriff Vance deputise Gibbs so he could take out Senior, and obviously he and Tony would fall in love. The trouble is getting from where I am in the story to the ending, and it's got to the point where I'm not excited enough about it to make that happen.
