[The audio clicks on, though for the first few moments no one speaks. There's just rustling, the sounds of buttons being pressed, and a soft sigh.]

If I can just figure out the calibration of this....

[The voice sounds young, a little annoyed, and a few more buttons are pressed. But then there's a brief 'oh wait' and the sound of the piece of ( Read more... )

Unless you use filters, your messages are broadcasted to just about everyone.

That would make sense, yeah. It's just interesting how something like video or text could be broad-casted via radio waves.

Not sure how it works, exactly, but technology around here is pretty advanced. People can fit giant monsters into little balls and put those inside of a computer.

It's pretty crazy, but you get used to it after a while.

You know, that is definitely true. I'll have to look into how those balls work...

I'm Robin, by the way.

Might as well. At least it's something to do around here.

[Heh.]

Name's Riku.

Yeah, really. Unless you want to go by the rules and actually try and complete your pokedex or whatever.

Well nice to...talk to you? Since this isn't really meeting.

I don't think anyone's even tried to catch all of them. There probably isn't room in the PC, and taking care of a few hundred Pokémon seems like a lot of work.

[Heh.]

And yeah, it's not really meeting, but close enough.

But that's what you're supposed to do in the games. Wouldn't that translate over to this?

[Oh god he does not want to start thinking about the morality behind keeping all those pokémon in a PC.]

Yeah, close enough. [nods]

[Riku shrugs; it's not something that really caught his mind.]

Beats me. I mostly focus on the gym challenge and training up a good team.

But what's the point of beating the gyms? What's the endgame?

What's the point to being a pokémaster?

I did it for the challenge. Plus, being able to fly around makes traveling a whole lot easier.

[A beat.]

I don't know about any 'endgame,' but it's kept me busy. Heard there's still the Elite Four to deal with, too.

I guess my question is...does everyone here treat it like a game that you have to beat? With everything that's going on with Team Rocket I feel like more people would be concerned with that...though, on the flip-side, you can't really defeat Team Rocket until you have a team strong enough to take them on.

[He doesn't understand! So he kind of huffs.]

You'd think with an entire crime syndicate out and about more people would be trying to take them down.

Well, some people do treat it like a game. Can't say I do, but it's hard for me to see it that way when most people here act like more than a bunch of zeroes and ones.

[Granted, it's not like Pokémon was a game in his world.]

As for Team Rocket, the law enforcement here's completely useless. They're too busy focusing on theft and small crimes than worrying about any real threats.

Do they not realize that this is serious? This isn't some video game. This is reality, however screwed up it may be. [A pause and then a shrug.] I guess since it isn't a game there's more personality depth.

[And now he's sighing and shaking his head.] This is ridiculous. Someone needs to do something. [Like you, Rob? Way to be subtle.]

It'd probably need to be a group. I don't have too much experience with Team Rocket, but even a strong team can't keep fighting constantly.

[He's learned that the hard way.]

Not even with massive amounts of full restores? Besides, as long as you take down the leader, the entire corporation will collapse. I doubt Team Rocket is any different. [Shrugs]
