A funny and sad thing has happened to me lately..

So last night i made upside-down raspberry tea cakes...delicious.  Big packages of fresh raspberries were on sale at the grocery store along with cheap peaches.  The cakes turned out so well...buttery and sweet and soft.  I had one for breakfast this morning with black coffee and i just wanted to stay and bask in the morning sun by the garden with ( Read more... )

Today I did something I have not done in a long while. I went shopping for things other than those required for sustenance, such as food and books. I am starting a new job on Monday and feel wholly unprepared to dress "professionally". In this house this morning it was stormy.  Sometimes the up and down and day to day is too much to bear, even in the frighteningly beautiful weather.  The brink of summer in the middle of winter is surreal.  Everything is dreamy, when it rains the sky seems to be crying, and the clouds rolling over the ground feel so confused.

I want to have tea parties with tiny cakes made with berry fruits that grow from trees in the backyard.  with jasmine and honey and soft blankets in the grass and the blinding sun making our eyes all squinty as we talk about books and friends and the places we'll go.
