Fair food....

In your opinion, what is the one food you have to get at the Fair? An "I will not leave these Fairgrounds until I have......." item. Name two, even. If you could go and get one or two (and only those one or two) things, what would you get??

A Twisted Sister & a bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies (cookies are bought on the way out of the Fair, with a Ziplock bag brought to contain the overflow so they stay fresh & off the ground).

A serach on the State Fair site lists the following places where you can get a Twisted Sister:

Der Pretzel Haus
Sausage Sister & Me

Which place do you like? Sweet Martha was already on the list, so it's nice to know it's not just us! :)

Sausage Sister & Me. Never heard of the other one. May have to seek it out on trip #2 (yes, we're probably going twice.)

On the Must Try list is the Pig Lickers. Didn't get it on the first trip & I've heard it's surprisingly tasty.

Oooh, I just don't know if I can do the Pig Lickers. I've also heard they're surprisingly tasty, but I'm too cheap to try something quite that adventurous! I wonder how the Pickle Pops are.....

I've never been to the fair, but I hope to go this year, and am currently collecting suggestions for "must haves" based on the responses here. We'll see what baby "needs" when/if I do go. I know Stuart would be all over a shaved ice ... .

ProntoPup or CornDog. I HAVE to have one every year, although I always search for the stand w/o a line and w/o the max price.

They have to be freshly made where the outside batter just melts in your mouth. Frozen ones from the grocery store are not even in the same food category.
