another brief one...

We're slowly getting into a "routine" here. It's hard. I really don't know how women do it who have either a) a partner who is uninterested in helping or b) no partner. Kris has been amazing. We always knew he was the more patient one, but he's proven it to me day in and day out. Lastly, the mental exhaustion is worse than the sleep ( Read more... )

What helped me is that I tried to have something that I was going to do each day. Like, go to Target or hit McD's. Something small and not something I had to do at a specific time. Some times it would take me 2 hours to get to McD's to hit the drive through with getting the baby and I ready to go. But then I felt like I had done something that day and not just sat around waiting for the cry.

I'm just talking. Take it or leave it.

I think you're right - having something to do will help. Maybe even walking Maplewood Mall to get some exercise and Piper some exposure to people and things (aside from us).

I'm actually thinking of venturing out of the house with Kris tomorrow for the first time since Friday! I'd have to put on actual clothes, though!

Pff. Actual clothes? I say show off the fact that you have your knees back. Go out in a long T-shirt and slippers.

I don't know how ANYONE does it, let alone single people or unhelpfully partnered people. I'm glad things are adjusting smoothly for your guys.

I can never quite become accustomed to children being born. I'm pretty sure I just think too much about it, but the fact that a person didn't exist and then suddenly does is just incomprehensibly weird to me. I mean, you grew a person.

Also, I'm curious where her name came from? Any special meaning to you two or was it just something you liked? (or did you perhaps actually use these two as namesakes?)

We actually did talk about Phoebe as a name, too. If we had had twins (ack!), I suppose we could have had both.

Ha! I love both of the names, but together it might be a problem. Unless you went all out and had another named Prudence. And then another named Paige... but you'd have to give her up for adoption.
