Okay, I simply cannot believe this is happening, but there's been some issues about the fact that I chose to make McCoy from Kentucky as opposed to Georgia over at Fandom Secrets. I'm not super active in any one fandom. Hell, I just wrote this series on a whim, but apparently it's inspired not only fans, but haters as well.

Apparently, Georgia, and ( Read more... )

fandom, rough-and-tumble series, haters to the left

You know when you have a great friend who is sweet and funny and smart and giving and interesting and hot as hell? And then she gets dumped by some idiot loser? And you are honestly thinking to yourself, "Oh wow, that is SO that other person's loss. How stupid do you have to be to dump HER??"

Yeah, that's how I'm feeling right now. That loser doesn't want to read your fic? HER/HIS LOSS. Pfft. More for us!

I'm sorry that happened, though. I could be wrong but whenever I see stuff like that, I think much of that is jealousy and/or hating on the het fanfic. Again, that person's loss!

Ok. I was reading those sorry excuses for posts, and all I have to say is this. Screw those pathetic-immature-asses! Its wankers like those that used the internet in highschool to tourment young people into wanting to die. This loser is beyond pathetic.

As for you, I'm sorry you got hurt over this. While I want to say that your better then them and to not let them win, I know plot bunnies can be scared away by assholes. Whatever you decide to do, keep your head up and remember the tons of people that love your work.

I am late to the party. but I am GIVING YOU HUGS. I think part of the dealio is that Old Skool folks have a hard time distinguishing between canon and fanon (particularly fanon they've embraced from secondary sources like tie-in novels or actor interviews for up to decades)--and even how to interpret canon. The idea that someone who kick up a fuss over fanon of McCoy being from Georgia rather than Kentucky when there is nothing in canon to say he isn't from Kentucky just makes me want to facepalm all over the place. But I have thoroughly enjoyed your fic, and will continue to do so in the future. Hang in there. This too shall pass ( ... )

Hey, don't give them the attention, c'mon! I knew McCoy was from Georgia rather than from Kentucky when I started reading your series, it makes no difference. And if it does for some people, then they're simply missing a helluva story.
I refuse to lose a great writer over something as silly (and as narrow, barely-there-minded) like this. *sets foot down, again*
