[Teddy] Birthday.

Though it's the big 1-8, as the night progresses Billy's found he enjoys the small celebration Teddy's thrown together for him. It doesn't live up to any of Chris's raves and there's no big drama to deal with; just most of his favorite friends, a cake to eat and only a few card games forced on them by request from the birthday boy. The party is

Teddy looks up from gathering the last of the used dishes and cups and smiles. Billy looks like a total mess, and it's great. He looks happy and tousled and, unintentionally, incredibly sexy and Teddy's reminded again that, no matter what weird, stressful things have come up since his arrival on the island, at the end of the day he is an extremely lucky guy.

"It was nothing," he says, straightening up and offering Billy a warm smile before heading for the kitchen to deposit his armful in the sink.

"It was amazing," he insists as he trails after Teddy, toeing his shoes off in the hallway. As Teddy places dishes in the sink Billy comes up behind him, sliding his arms around his waist and resting his chin on Teddy's shoulder. "Seriously. Best birthday ever."

Teddy closes his eyes briefly, smiling, and absently drying his hands on a linen towel. He could say a lot of things, all true- that he's glad Billy had a good time, that it was the best he could organize in the circumstances, that he's glad they finally got through a party without something happening. It all just boils down to one easy fact, though, and he pulls one of Billy's hands off his stomach to bring it up to his mouth, kissing his knuckles, and murmurs, "I love you."

"I love you, too," Billy replies, smiling as he brushes a kiss on Teddy's cheek. He could spend the rest of the winter with Teddy just like this and honestly be happy.
