More often they choose darkness now, as if it can hide them from the eyes of angels and whatever else is watching.
They've tried stopping over the years, but it never takes. In a life grown lonelier, grown bleaker, love is the only real comfort they have left.
Fierce touches and heated kisses build toward sweet agony, toward release becoming brightness. Then soft kisses follow, soothing flames down to embers.
"What if-" Sam says suddenly, his worries always stronger at night.
"No guarantees," Dean answers, smoothing Sam's skin.
"But if it ends tomorrow, then at least we had this."
