Much with the agreement. But I think not knowing just what a massively unconventional dork JRT was even at age, what was it? Eight? *Will* change the flavor of the tiara wearing. And also the dynamic in the band. If he's *only* the cute, weird, irrationally and unconsideredly idealistic one, instead of also this *massively* powerful and succesful performer who has the most clout of all of them that will have a different feel to it. It's taking some of his power *away* and seeing what happens that is part of the charm of this alternate reality.
But even with all that, it will still be a fabulous, fabulous *wonderful* story.
I don't know that you *can't* just publish it as is, though. Sue Townsend did a fabulous and in many ways similar book on the British royals, and nobody seems to mind that. Between that and the Jerry Springer Opera (and I'm sure there are more examples) RPF seems an established publishing tradition.

Yeah, but what I mean is that if you read it as not sparkly fandom, the whole Justin won a tiara in a beauty contest that he himself *asked* to enter thing gets a bit lost, no? Hugely famous boybands might be somewhat generic. Little boys who want to be beauty queens are not. Also:
