It's a big day here, so I shouldn't let it pass without somehow commemorating it, but it's always a day of mixed emotions for people from "South Vietnam ( Read more... )

Actually, you, Khoi, and I left VN in the middle of March - the 15th, I think. We were here in Michigan for 6 weeks waiting for Dad to get out! It seemed like forever!

OK! I always thought it was earlier, but I saw in one of the newspaper stories that we arrived at home on April 13. Maybe I read it wrong. Or maybe the paper got it wrong.

We should know that date, yes?

We celebrated the day with two grande cappuccinos at Biggby in Ionia, following a grand presentation of our Africa Trip 2014 at Ionia Theatre to a sizable young and old audience. Mom did a splendid travelogue.

June 6 2011 to June 6 2015, four years in Viet Nam. Wow, if you add three more years to this stay, you will be spending as much time as we did from 1968 through 1975 in Viet Nam. A different time, a common place.

Well, you know I did spend most of 2003-2008 here. And 1972-75. I must be close to 12 years already.

You beat our working record in a way. With my seven years absence 1962-1968, I guess I still spent more time in Viet Nam.
