This is a late response, but...
Jacob won't imprint on Bella. 'Cause apparently, they imprint on someone the first moment they see the person after they become a werewolf. And Jacob's been one for a while, he TRIES to imprint on Bella, but he can't.
Oh dear. =P

but you have to admit, it would complicate the hell out of things.
