bert and i got denied on the apartment we applied for. part of it, i think, is because of his job history. another part of it, i know, is because of my credit history

i wish i knew about credit cards in college but i racked up a fat ass Discover balance that i am STILL paying off to this day. The key is to try to pay double your minimum, if not more, never make a late payment, and to be consistent for at least 2 years. if you can establish consistency then it boosts up your score.
what you can do is add up your credit card maximums, then add up what you are currently in debt for and then divide that to get a percentage. it's good to only be 30% in debt (25% is ideal) on each card you own. creditors (and apartment peeps) see that as you being a 25-30% risk. ive been trying to get all my balances down to 25% and hell, i aint even reached 50 yet. but im trying and ill get there one day.
anyway feel free to call me or email me or hit me up on aim -- i also think that financial advisors are good (i know a good one that is abby's friend -- im planning to use him too). i also miss you, and you need to get your ass back here and crash at my crib because...well, you just have to =)
Geez, 12...I can't even get ONE. I've applied over and over and get denied every time. Every time I get denied they have the same excuse, "You don't have enough credit." I'm like how do I get credit when nobody gives it to me...lol Oh well. My mom said she'd get one with both of us on it. Mike gets credit cards, but he's got bad credit. I want MY OWN. *stomps foot*
But, sorry about the denial on the apartment. It's surprising because you had lived with your dad quite a long time that I was thinking maybe you could use that residence as credibility/credit. ????
damn...i wish i had no credit than bad credit. you can redeem yourself quicker that way.
yeah, i thought with my rental history it would be ok. but something's shady. bert's mom applied for grins and giggles (well she wanted to sub-lease for us, but i'm not cool with that), and SHE got denied (she has perfect credit). i think it might have to do with the fact that the office recognized bert when he went in with her. why he did that is beyond me. anyhow, i guess we're gonna look again this weekend.
damn melissa!! *so sorry* all i can say is just keep trying! my management company did not look at my credit that way... what they did was determine how many lines of credit i had and if they were good... it just depends on the individual or company. my sister in law got an apartment on pure luck... people who own and manage their own property dont always look at credit... it seems that the first one who gets the down and first months gets it... i was angry and bitter because we applied twice before the place we got now and was denied! but no worries, i mean my man has NO credit (i even put him as an authorized user on one of mine so that it will reflect on his credit and begin a history) but we got a place and so will YOU guys! keep tryin, im sure of it! where are you tryin to move to anyway? i remember awhile back you wanted to live in long beach... just curious lol.
girl i put him on my credit BUT i hold the plastic LOL. he doesnt handle money very well so i take care of it... although the card reads his name, it stays in my possession. i am just tryin to help him but i am not dumb enough to allow him to hinder me and my credit lol. but yeh we are in long beach... on the east side by the traffic circle. and yes, do not give up!

the only debt i have is 4 g's in financial aid. i haven't had a late payment in two years, and i only have one credit card (with a zero balance).
i read on experian.com that time heals all wounds. that was NOT the answer i was looking for.
woe is me.
i'ma have to call you soon.
hope all is well. :)

where are you staying now? still in long beach?
you are really trusting to put your man on your credit. i love bert, but there will be none of that. :)
