I was just reminded today how moving, how mature, how filled-with-grace a real apology can be.
Not an "I'm sorry, but...." Not an "I'm sorry, if..." Not any sort of qualified faux-pology that permits the speaker to maintain their status as the wounded party (or at least, one who is equally the victim.)
But a full-hearted, unambiguous, "I was wrong
