One of what I'm sure will be multiple delights about turning forty: scheduling one's first mammogram. Yeah. Currently we're set for August 15 but I'm thinking seriously of postponing until September so I can at least wait until I'm ACTUALLY forty.

honest, it is no big. I had to start when I was 35, because my mom had breast cancer (she beat it). Just remember to take iboprofen about 30 minutes beforehand (esp if you are on the smaller side) cuz of the squoosh factor. It doesn't hurt really but the advil may help any residual soreness just in case. And give up any notion of personal privacy because the tech will be all "I'm going to rearrange your boob here" and be very matter of fact about it. Once a techie has rearranged your boob on a glass slide, there's really no where to go from that. :)

Yeah, my Director at work said it's no big deal, too. Since I'm kind of built like a boy I'm not entirely sure how the physics of the whole thing will work, but they take all kinds, so they must have a method.
