Is it mixed with fantasy too? or strictly scifi?
I dunno you named all the main ones. Scifi wasn't my strong point so I don't know. Where does narnia, eragon, golden compass stuff fit in? I guess fantasy.
Otherwise, the only scifi i've read are these lesfi stuff, by Kelly Eskeridge or Nicola Griffith.

Yea, it is all mixed in. Narnia, Eragon, GC and HP are all young adult/juvenile fiction so they are next door at the Children's bookshop. The owners have made deals as to what each will carry.

I'll look into the other two names you've given me. Thanks!

Okay, since fantasy is included I can give you some names.

Jacqueline Carey (Kushiel's Dart, etc.--there's five or six books in this series now, the first three are must haves)
Guy Gavriel Kay (EVERYTHING BY GGK, but if you can only pick one...Tigana)
China Mieville (Perdido Street Station, if nothing else)
Storm Constantine (Wraeththu or you will be killed)
Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Good Omens, Neverwhere)
Tanith Lee (Secret Books of Paradys)

Kushiel's Dart! I think I can definitely swing those!

Wraeththu....yes.

I've all ready ordered those Gaimans!

Possibly yes on the Tanith Lee. I'll have to look into the Kays.

Perdido Street Station is on hold in the back. If they don't come this week it is going back on the shelf!

Seriously, you can't NOT get the GGK books. He is a wonderful writer and they are totally engrossing books.

I've got his latest pb on order. The only Tigana that is in print is a ten year aniversary version for $20. I'd never get away with it! Maybe if the other one sells well. We'll see.

A general comment. Try to get some of the lesser known works of the authors. Every one will have LoTR or the Hobbit but what of Tolkiens other work. That is how I would rate an indy bookstore.

Oh and forget ye not Michael Moorcock and Robert Howard.

Maybe even E.E. Doc Smith if you like a bit of pulp.

The problem is that we don't have a lot of money to buy inventory. Actually I'm not supposed to buy anything! So, I may have to wait until September before I can jazz up the section with quality lesser know stuff. Sad but true. We only get a few people a week coming in just for scifi. Kids these days! I swear. But I am going to try to sneak a few Conans in there just for you guys!
