Went to the market today to buy a backpack. Woman wanted me to buy more, since I'm the type of person that can't say no to a person and get "buyers remorse" I said I needed to go to the bank. She followed me. Made up some more lies and got away.

Dinner: Dad took me to eat Peking duck tonight. Yum, so good! No more eating.

Never have dinner with dad again. We had a talk. I'm too embarrassed and pissed off to write about it in here but let it be known.

Woke up at 6:30 and headed out to Suzhou this morning. Suzhou is this city west of Shanghai, about an hour out, that was built by a bunch of rich monks. Its a collection of 16 garden complexes that these poets escaped to and came up with a big portion of Chinese art and poetry. Even though it was winter, the scenary was amazing. After watching yet another 10 episodes or so of Friends, I decided to take initiative and go out into Shanghai by myself. Donning my Northface and scarf, I hitched a taxi to Nan Jing Lu (for prospective tourists, this is the IT of touristy places. It's like NYC's Times Square stretched into a long pedestrian-only road). An awesome day in the city of Shanghai. My dad and I drove to Ren Min Guang Zan, the People's Square, where I took some amazing shots of the beautiful opera house and other buildings. Then we went underground to the subway and road it to Long Yang station, where we were the first people to board the first ride of the new maglev train. This thing ( Read more... )
