Pheno

Wow...
I have never been as wiped by a Con as I was by this Pheno, but I figure I should probably get this down while it is fresh in my mind. Then I am off to some oh-so-welcome sleep.
Being sleep depreived and a little tipsy, appologies if this post is a little... inelegant. I'm also trying LJ tags for the first time.

I can attest to the coolness of your game. I enjoyed it immensely.

I can also attest to the fact that you were still vibrating at post-con drinkies. :D

Don't feel too bad about beating out tresskitten for new designer... she would have liked the kudos, but really did not want to run Triptych next year.

I feel a lot better now, that's for sure :)
LJ Ettiquette question - I wasn't sure.
Given that lj names are also links, is it appropriate to refer to people by LJ names in a situation where others will then find out the real person has an LJ name?

I use the lj links by preference, but I'm not fanatical about maintaining anonymity... I don't think it's a big deal.

For eg, anyone who reads my post will realise that tresskitten is my daughter... it's not a lot of detective work from there.

Dude, having played your game in a session where AS wasn't around...it wasn't him. Your game was great.
And don't worry about the adrenaline-Viva Las Vegas freaked me out last year as well. I suspect it's a bit like that for everyone.

I'm actually not that sore about missing out on NDA. I don't think a Triptych is my ideal situation, either. I'm happy that you won. You deserve it. I'm only sad that I chose not to play anything this year, and even though it's good that I didn't, because I would have been so bad come Monday... still, I feel that I missed out on a lot. :)

I'll be looking forward to your game next year, and I'll definitely play!

Just to clarify, winning the New Designer Award doesn't mean you HAVE to write for the triptych. It means that you will be bagdered and nagged, but you don't have to. After winning the NDA several years ago, I did not write a triptych until the year after the year I *should* have.
So new designers should not be frightened of *having* to write a huge big scary game, just because they rocked.

Actually, I'm conflicted about the Tryptych. It is scary, but it is also a fantastic opportunity. It depends on whether I can rise to the occasion.
The "New Designer Runs A Tryptych" tradition is scary though.
Especially when you win for a comedy game, and then have to switch for a Tryptych. (Wow, given the generally light hearted nature of the new designers' games this year...)

Hmmm... Does anyone know who I talk to about the Tryptych rules, scheduling, official matters and such like?

Well, I'm the new writer wrangler, but I haven't had a hand-over from Xole yet, so I don't really know what I'm doing. I'll let you know once I do ;)

The session of S5 I was in wasn't one of the ones you ran, but I don't think (for me, at least) that it would have made a difference. Your co-GM was awesome, but if you GM anywhere near as well as you roleplay, then there's no way I would have enjoyed it any less. It was obvious as soon as I got my character sheet that you'd put a helluva lot of thought and effort into S5, and it showed through the entire game. That NDA was well and truly deserved. Other people might have doubts, but I don't.

And with you running a Tryptych next year I'm now kicking myself that I've volunteered to run a game next year, because between that and promising teknohippi that I'd be a GM monkey for her again I'm not sure how many sessions I'll be able to play in ~_~

(oh, this is Alicia of the Melbourne contingent, BTW)
