This is going to be a favorite of mine. I was sorry to see it end, there's so much more that could happen between the cave and the present. *sigh* Maybe a sequel?

I adored this story. I love how you were able to weave Native American culture with the Superman and SV mythos. And I loved the names you gave the characters because they were perfect for each one of them. I swear a tear fell on more than one occassion. Plus, the fact that I absolutely LOVE historical Clex fics just made me a vrey happy birthday girl.

Thanks! I did a lot of research which was fun because I've always been interested in Native American culture. And Happy Birthday (belated)!

Oh, this was awesome!

Somehow, this story reminded me a whole lot of Highlander (but so did the cover), what with Clark rising from the grave, and this:
Nadiemakwe smiled and using a mix of Hatteras, Croatan and English in a Scots brogue explained that Luther Clark was training the son of the sky who was the gift of Kitcki Manitou and was a man who'd risen from the dead. Stroking his heavy red beard, Luther Clark looked between the boy and the brawny young man and nodded. "Then I was right to gie him ma father's claymore. No other man could deserve it more."
and then the coda with both of them living in the future/present and changing identities because they're immortal. Being a HL fan, I adored this.

Also, Kitchi Elsu flying for the first time with the red mantle! *squee* That's the kind of moment that gives me shivers.

Well, that's interesting! I've never seen or followed the Highlander Series, although I've seen the first movie more than once. You're right, there do seem to be parallels, but to be honest I wanted the Scots connection for the castle and names in the future (wrote the ending first) and my research on two-handed swords led me to claymores. The rising from the dead was my take on Doomsday / Mortal. Now that you've pointed it out, it could certainly be taken as HL too, even though coincidental. I think. Lord only knows where I get some of my ideas...

exactly my thoughts :) enderwiggin24 March 27 2007, 20:40:29 UTC
when i was arriving at the end, i thought as well, wow, the author must also be a fan of HL!!!
(and i totally agree with you bagheera! the cover!! Duncan!!! gnedewreif hot!)

//"So we're going with Scottish?" Leaning over the Itahu's shoulder, K'El pointed to the first set of names on the list. "Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. I like the sound of that."//

that sound, along in your fic, is perfect!!!!
the perfect end for a great journey, for both the readers and for K'El and Itahu!

and i could have both whacked sir grenville and lady victoria into pieces....grrrr

This was such a wonderful story. I loved every twist on canon, but even more than that, I was completely captivated by the world you created. Perfect characterizations, interactions, and captivating plot. Couldn't ask for more!
