I’ve moved out of Kim’s apartment, and am nominally back in Kalamazoo for a few weeks, although at the moment I happen to be sitting in the Espresso Royale on State Street in Ann Arbor. Summer is clearly ending. I’m currently staying at Kim’s apartment so that I can work for a little bit more, but my last shift at Sweetwaters is on Tuesday. After then, I’m going to New York with my family for a few days to see my grandparents, and then I’ll be home for a while before going to Exeter.

I would like to apologize for being essentially off the communications radar for a month or so. I have been scolded for dropping off the face of the earth, and I accept this as accurate criticism. The past two days have been incredibly, exhaustingly hot. Although there is an air conditioner in the apartment, it has never been used, partly because that would mean a greater utilities expense, and mostly because it would cool the living room and take many hours to make the temperature any more bearable in the bedroom. David and I both went away for Fourth of July weekend - I took the now-familiar train back to Kalamazoo, he flew down to St. Louis for a long weekend.
