I'm Scared

Nov 14, 2006 19:02

I am giving blood on thursday, as long as my iron level is good, a problem for vegetarians. I am sooo nervous. I hate shots, but it saves lives, so I am gonna brave the needle and donate blood. Has anyone done it before? Does it hurt? Tell the truth, don't just say whatever to comfort me. I want to be prepared.

I had blood drawn once before, but it was years ago. I don't remember it being particularly painful, per se--it's all rather psychological, because I remember laughing the whole time. Nervous laughter, of course, but laughter nonethless.

i gave blood twice. the first time wasn't bad at all, it only hurts a little when they stick the needle in and then your hand gets tired of squeezing the spongy thing for 10 minutes. Second time, wasn't so good cause towards the end the blood just like wouldn't come out anymore, very weird. And after it was done I almost threw up/fainted before i was able to get water and food.
