I just watched cops for the first time tonight. It was all white guys in their 30s driving around at night in Florida getting pulled over for dropping cigarettes out of their windows or having their tail lights out. I guess that when it comes to this system, I just see these guys never getting any real help. They just get pulled in off the street for a little while, lose their car (or their mom's in one guy's case).

I want to see more rehab. The cops kept talking about how their crime problems were caused by the drug addictions in the area. But nothing's really changing as a result of these guys getting picked up. I think there has to be something better.

Rehab only works if you want to get rehabilitated. If you're just there waiting for the moment you get out so you can score another dimebag or whatever, it's not going to work.

I think part of the purpose of rehab is to help people realize that changing is a possibility. When people get picked up for this stuff, they know what they're doing to their lives. They know exactly how fucked they are. What they don't have, generally speaking, is anyone trying to help them stop.
