Helloooooooooooooooooo Adstringendumnites! Adstringendumers? Whatever we're all being called at the moment - has anyone ever really come up with a word for the people here? If not, I'd like to recommend Adstringites, it has a certain ring to it...

Anyway! I was wondering; this is a network full of communications and filters and wonderful ( Read more... )

Hacking, Doctor? Now, now, isn't that a rather devious activity?

Devious? I'd like to think I'm at least a little devious normally. A bit of a bad boy still.

Oh, now don't get me all intrigued here as to just how "devious" you can get.

[OBLIVIOUS]

Oh I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. I've been on the receiving end of more than a few inspired glances.

Setting up filters is actually very simple! Though it's securing the filters that would require some extra work. Without securing them, someone can take a bit of effort and get past it. If I initiate the secure filter, using one with the coding learned back in my world seems to work.

[Meaning the PCDs understand more than one computing language, it seems.]

Oh, I've figured out the basics of filters. I'd simply like to try my hand at cracking a few of them. Machines and computers are my strong point, practically everything I studied back in school. Learning how things tick, how everything goes together. Row after row of codes and numbers.

I can't help but want to poke at it.

I see~

[That is actually kinda amusing. Though it gives her an idea.]

Do you want to poke at the code I use? If there's any holes in it, you could help smooth it out.

I'd absolutely love to! Do you have a way of sending it through the PCD's?

Hacking. Meaning what?

It's simply using lines of codes and numbers, finding just the right sequence to sync with a signal of sorts, to worm your way into an electronic device and be able to take control of it from afar, no matter what security it has or who owns it.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned it to you before now.

[That's useful. And dangerous. Very dangerous.]

I'm not. Many people would gladly hide such a skill.

Oh I have no worry about people thinking the worst of those who would hack into private conversations, but I can assure you I'm nothing like those sorts. I simply intrude on what is strictly necessary - or I would, if I could find someone to practice on.

See, simple conversations of those who simply like keeping to themselves are no importance to me, I frankly don't care. But the conversations between the evil ones among us, the ones that live off gore and violence, those are the ones I want the ability to disrupt, if just for a few more minutes of forewarning.

What sort of thing were you thinking? Heavily encrypted?

Reply

haspaceteeth August 29 2011, 00:30:35 UTC
As encrypted as possible. I could start small, but the layers are what I need. To figure out what layers of codes people have been pulling out of the system in order to remain hidden.

Well, I'm sure Tosh and I could oblige you, if you like.

It does have a certain flair to it, doesn't it? Adstringites. Shorter than the full version, but with a sense of class that's so hard to find sometimes.

I'm afraid I've spoken to those who have claimed to have resided here for over three years. A rather unfortunate detail, and one I'm currently striving to correct.

If we had a mayor or some other governing boy here, I'd put in an official request. As it is, I suppose we'll just have to spread it by word of mouth. A little slower, and a little less official, but it should do the job fairly soon.

Not good in the very slightest, I'm afraid. I, for one, cannot get stuck here for that long. I may not look it - then again, I suppose I would look the part. Nine hundred and seven years of practice - but I do have places to be, a whole big, exciting universe to save.
