Kakashi's heartfelt apology to the memorial stone was most stirring. I tend to read aloud when characters are having monologues and before i knew it, i was choking back on emotions.
I don't blame the village at all. I suppose mistakes have to be made before things get better. This was a system that raised Danzou and Orochimaru after all! I hope Genma gets off his funk.
I suppose in the end, the genjutsu was super useless. They should have just dropped him off at the academy or better yet, started off small by pulling in the school yard bullies to test his reaction. No doubt after ridding the school of its undesirables, viola! He is cured.
It was funny however to see kakashi panicking and stowing away the food in high places, slamming and locking the bedroom door, putting the mattress up against it and making a dash for the closet all in a Speedy gonzales moment! Lol!
I'm happy about his meeting with Naruto. And yay! Iruka is LOOKING!
Thank's for commenting! And, haha, well, this actually DID go in the direction of putting Kakashi at the Academy for that very purpose :D But I ended up thinking it changed the theme of the story too much, so I changed it. I still might use it for a sequel or something though ;)
Very touching chapter. I've always thought that Kakashi is a very kind person and it shows in this chapter: in the way he speaks to his team mates at the stone,or to his sensei's son, in the way he feels he has failed his team, and the fear he has of killing more innocent people. It's so heartbreaking watching that but, at the same time, it shows his inner strength: he overcomes his fears and problems only to help others (like Naruto) or to not harm others (like the children, or Iruka's feelings), or merely to do his duty toward his village. What a selfless man...I adore him.
This chapter was so touching. His heartfelt words for his old team at the memorial stone touched me. I hope he can forgive himself, as I'm sure his old team has already forgiven him. The party scene was also heartwrenching, with Kakashi's panic attack at all the children. But it was warming to see his walls beginning to thin around Naruto. Maybe Naruto will be the key, along with Iruka, for helping Kakashi truly heal.
