Yeah, this is just embarrassing as someone who ships Korra/Mako and is also somewhat interested in Mako/Asami. (Waiting 'til I see the episode though.) Why, Avatar fandom?
It's way too early in my opinion to be shipping anyone (yeah I know fandom was shipping as soon as they saw pics).
I mean okay I like the potential of Mako/Korra but they have only interacted in 2 episodes. There is not much Mako/Korra yet.
Maybe Mako/Asami will be a better pair for all I know. Maybe they won't. But bashing female characters because your ship might not be the final ship when you can't even like them except for pretty shallow reasons at this point....seriously fandom get over yourself.
Well, I'm not about to read spoilers for an episode that I haven't seen yet, but goddamn. The fourth episode's not even OUT yet and people are going batshit over ships? (Oh wait. Weren't some of them bashing Bolin long before the show even came out? I shouldn't be surprised.) Just... what the fuck. I should just not even pay attention to this fandom, I guess. It might sour the genuine like for Makorra I'm starting to develop.
Congratulations, rabid Makorra shippers! You've made me go from feeling neutral toward your ship to outright disliking it. Poor Asami. The rabid Makorra shippers are pulling the same shit rabid Zutara shippers did--senselessly bashing any female character who so much as looks like she could be a threat. And some of them are even starting to go after Tahno now just because some people are shipping him with Korra; they're calling him names like "faggot" and "rapist" when we don't even KNOW the guy yet.
Personally, I hope they both join the Krew/Korralition and become permanent cast members; it looks like Korra's going to need all the help she can get to take down Amon. That guy is CREEPY.
I'm just waiting to see how little it's going to take for shipwank regarding J.K. Rowling's upcoming adult novel to ensue; to judge by the example of Legend of Korra, all the fandom needs are names, character designs (or physical descriptions), and brief character outlines--and off they go.
