Thanks for the giggles! Once inflection I picked up in Canberra was to reverse the parts of a statement and turn it into a question, like "going to the library, are you?"
I majored in history and I couldn't believe how people in general (in 1990) belittled Australian history. I took one year long course, and everytime I told someone they'd respond, "is there enough history?" I hope that's changed by now, and maybe the new blockbuster Australia movie will make people proud. (I think that happened when the Fatal Shore came out.)
Sadly a lot of Australians feel that way about their own history. I think it is improving though, a lot more people recognise the significance of Indigenous history for a start, and we're starting to get a handle on the complexities of settlement/invasion and everything that followed. I hope you enjoyed studying it anyway!
I'm not expecting much from 'Australia the movie' to tell you the truth. The blockbusters tend to deal in stereotypes and myths. The little films hardly anyone's ever heard of are usually much more interesting.
