Goodness, is that the time? Somehow whenever I've thought about sitting down to blog lately the energy to do so has been completely lacking. I seem to be surfacing now from a few months of perpetual exhaustion. Whatever energy I have had (physical & emotional) has gone into work and occasionally trying to keep some sort of social life functioning. ( Read more... ) -

Today in the post I received one of those promotional letters that politicians send out encouraging you, the 'Resident', to vote. It was filled with various different pieces of paper plastered with said politician's photo. Among them was a shopping list pad designed to be stuck on the fridge. I was faced with a dilemma. Well, I had a lovely weekend with the old flame. I was reminded of why I was attracted to him, way back when, but I was also reminded of why it didn't last. Nice to spend time with a friend, technology is wonderful for those old connections, but perhaps some things are meant to stay in the past? -

Spinster status
I recently got an e-mail from an Arts program which I have been a member of for some years. It's essentially aimed at trying to get 'young people' to support the Arts (capital A): music, theatre, visual arts etc. The scheme is currently called 'Fringe Benefits' (It's linked to the Fringe Festival) though it's had previous incarnations, and it ( Read more... ) -

I went to my cousin's wedding yesterday. She's 21, married a 24 year old, and the young couple are both evangelical Christians. There was a lot of talk about giving one's life to Jesus Christ in both the ceremony and reception, but provided you could cope with that it was quite a beautiful day. One of the perks of being a curator is you get to play with the collection. White gloves aside you get to be up close and personal with objects that most people only get to see through the glass case. A colleague once described the thrill she gets from working with particularly interesting objects and the sense of connection to the past they give ( Read more... )
