I've been finding it hard to sit down and concentrate beyond 5 seconds on the computer, maybe because I spend half my working life staring at a screen or a page, but here goes. In my absence from the world of LJ everything and nothing has happened:

• My boss is retiring in two weeks. Hell of a lot of changes afoot.

It's over a year since I returned to Australia and I can't decide whether I want to stay settled or pick up and do something different. I love my job, I really enjoy working with the people there and every day there is something different to tackle, but there really isn't any room to 'move up' in my field if I stay here. Tried to visit the sheep station this weekend but was rained out. Dad was thrilled, all the dams are full, but mum and I were stuck in town. I had taken a friend visiting from OS to see the Outback so she got the local cultural delights instead. That included a visit to one of the social clubs for steak and chips where we made her play the pokies. ( Read more... )

I've logged on a few times recently with every intention to catch up with people's news and write something pithy myself. Somehow though the energy to write always seems to escape me. Apart from the fact that I appear to be living in some sort of brain fog at the moment I just can't think of anything interesting to say. I'm sure it will come to me

Just back from my a weekend away for my cousin's 21st birthday party. Always interesting when you get our family together but we must all be mellowing as we get older, it was all very pleasant and a lot of fun to catch up. Even though we found a place to rent and 'moved in' a couple of weeks ago last night was the first time I actually slept here. That's because we've been fridge-less that whole time and they're finally delivering it today. We've been house-sitting instead, in a really lovely house, so I've not been in any particular hurry to make the full move ( Read more... )

Wedding went well. The bride and groom looked happy and everyone had a good time. I did not fall over my high heels and even risked some very bad dancing in very good company.
