Tuesday, at the end of Robotics, a knife fell out of the back pocket of one of my freshmen ("Fayong") while she was picking up her robot. I didn't move or think quickly enough, and I didn't confiscate it. I reported the event to my principal about 6:55 this morning. She's a little bitter about the whole teaching-in-Boston experience, and our parking lot conversation concluded with, "I can't teach these children."

It is very well written, somewhat aggravating in a good "how can the system suck so much" sort of way and I suspect that living in Boston you will relate even more than I did dealing with the kids in the suburbs and Worcester. I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on it.
