Quick update...
So, not a whole lot visible happening up until the last couple days. We now have insulation on the outside walls and passed inspection for the various items yesterday afternoon. Now they will begin putting the plywood up over the exposed outside walls in preperation for starting the frmaing upstairs. -
End of another week of construction...
Quite a bit has been accomplished this week. The water heater was moved to the back wall of the garage so that it's exhaust pipe would not be next to the new upstairs wall, many more of the upstairs floor joists have been installed and rough plumbing (including running the drain pipes through the wall of the downstairs bathroom) has been completed ( Read more... ) -
Construction: Going topless
Well, the pace appears to be picking up, at least for the moment. The workers spent yesterday tearing off the roof for the area where the addition will be going. Conveniently for them, that part of the roof is right next to the driveway so they were able to back the truck right up under and dump all the waste directly to the truck ( Read more... ) -
Construction: Week 2
Well, just a quick update as not much happened last week. City inspector came out and gave a thumbs up to the footing holes and rebar, so Wednesday they poored concrete to fill up all the pits in the house. With the holiday weekend, that was all that got done ( Read more... ) -
Days 2 and 3, end of the first week.
So, day 2 (Thursday 6/25) did not end up being the day for holes in the floor. Instead the concentrated on getting the stucco off of the outside of the house in the area where the shear wall will be. I must admit they did a good job cleaning up after themselves. While there were a few surface patches of interior drywall plaster knocked off by all ( Read more... ) -
Day 1, 6/24/09
Today the back patio cover down. After a bit of worry and concern, it appears that nothing was damaged getting it down and it will be able to be put back up again when the work on the house is done ( Read more... ) -
It's start time!!
Plans have been approved by the city, fees have been paid (including a school district tax since we are adding more than 500sq ft) and thinsg are starting to move. Next week they will come out to take down the back patio cover so that they can start tearing the stucco off to do the shear wall work ( Read more... ) -

The layover....
So, as layovers go probably not all that bad. Only three hours from landing to scheduled takeoff so if you count boarding time and all that only a little over two hours to kill ( Read more... ) -
