Sure, why not. I got some bad news today and rambling about RP stuff is always a decent distraction, so here I am with the "comment here and I will tell you what my character thinks of your character" meme.

Although it might take me a while to get back to you. Work and sleep and moving and stuff.

ooc, meme

Ye-eah.

And hi!

Shay sometimes isn't quite sure what to make of Hips. But she's pretty sure she likes her. Most of Shay's friends are male - she's a little more wary of other women, not because she sees them as a threat, but because women have a reputation for being petty and cruel. She'd be glad to count Hips among her handful of female friends, though. As with Hermes, she's been making some effort to return gestures of friendship.

ZOMG SUPERMAN

Shay respects Superman. I mean, you kind of have to. He's freakin' SUPERMAN. When it comes to saving the world, he's pretty much the authority.

Having her on the JLA will prove interesting, since they probably disagree on a lot of things. Ultimately, she values his opinion, but she feels he's a bit too removed sometimes to see what peoples' everyday lives are really like. He's one of those larger-than-life superheroes who she both respects and resents. She feels he wastes his potential not dealing in lethal force, but recognizes that as his choice and isn't going to try to change his mind.

So yeah. She doesn't agree with him a lot of the time. But she also realizes that he's one of the most powerful beings on the planet, and she DEEPLY respects the fact that he uses his power to help people rather than just take over.

Very cool. I don't think Babs has met Shay either, given how Babs' pre-Oracle days were pretty much limited to Gotham (depending on whether or not you want to count her term in Congress). Would be interesting to have Shay meet Babs, though at the moment I have NO clue how that would happen. Other than something like the Cafe thing we did where a teenaged Babs ended up babysitting a young Dick Grayson, Selina, and Shay. Plus I think Mar'i wandered in there towards the tail end.

Wellll, I've been meaning to have her go looking for Jason for, like, ever - getting ahold of Jason-mun is hard, though, because my computer seems to reject his computer's AIM or something. I figure that would be the sort of thing she'd ask Oracle about. Oracle could lead her to Nightwing, who could lead her to Babs. And then they would have tea!

Or not. Shay would most likely have coffee. Or beer. But you know.

ANYWAY. Not that I'm up for much in the way of actual plots right now, but it's just a possible scenario. We'd have to co-ordinate it with Nightwing and Jason, but yeah. Juuuuust something to keep in mind.

That Lunatic Cafe scene was crack-addled. But fun.

Hi!

Shayera doesn't really understand Swampy a lot of the time. But she figures he probably gets that a lot. She respects him, and likes him, and sometimes gets a little impatient with him - she's impulsive and hard-headed, whereas he is calm and patient, often with things that upset her (like the Avatar). She figures he's Good People. Er... Good Elemental. You know what I mean. She's pleasantly surprised by his sense of humor. And she's fond of Tefe as well, so bonus.

heh Well, yeah, he's used to his perspective being considered weird, though that gets said to his face a lot less than you'd maybe expect, at least in Nexus stuff. Impatience is also not much of a surprise -- Constantine, most notably, has bitched before that Swampy should grow extra vocal cords -- though mostly it's perspective, which has become only longer-term compared with days of old.

The sense of humor is something that he didn't frequently have occasion for in the old days, other than with Abigail and Tefé, back when they all lived together in the swamp. Most of it has expanded from being in touch with the whole world, and seeing more than just the horror that defined a lot of his earlier life.

And of course there are bonus points for liking Tefé. This goes without saying. :-)

Shayera needs to hang out with the Birds of Prey more. (Actually, Gail Simone originally wanted Shayera to be one of the Birds of Prey - Huntress was her second choice, after DC said no to Hawkwoman due to continuity confusion. I think there's an issue somewhere in which Hawkwoman is listed as one of Oracle's contacts, but then, Oracle has a lot of contacts, so yeah.)

I actually think she and Dinah would argue a lot. Not in a mean-spirited way, but just general bickering. I don't think they'd hit it right off - Shayera almost never hits it right off with people, unless you're speaking very literally - but I can't see them really disliking each other.

Makes sense to me. Dinah tends to be a bright and bouncy happy wise-ass, and Shay isn't. They'd probably bond over a righteous ass-kicking or a discussion of martial arts. Dinah also tends to start out very friendly towards cops, since her dad was one, so there'd be that in Shay's favor.
