It always used to weird me out when people would be all like, "This year there was X percent growth in the GNP! Whee!"

THE WORLD IS FINITE, PEOPLE.

The only things that do constant growth eventually kill their host system and themselves. Cancers, deer that live on islands, etc.

That's a little pessimistic -- unlike cancers and deer, we can introspect and be more efficient.

You might have a case when our energy requirements exceed the power from the sun and the power we can harvest from radioactive nuclei in our crust.

Then again, I'm assuming that people realize that wealth is built on technology, not printing money ...
