Classic. Wish we could join you! But then, I guess we will, not long thereafter. ;)
It looks like our main family Christmas dinner will happen on the evening of the 23rd, which will be a few hours after we are scheduled to complete (airlines and weather permitting) our trek from the jungles of Southeast Asia to the old homestead in Canton, Illinois. So, far from participating in the menu planning for that, it will probably be all we can do to avoid going face down in the green bean cassarole, what with 40-odd hours of airports, airplanes and jetlag under our belts. We are however going to bring along some tins of foie gras, which can be had here in this former French colony in reasonably fine quality at a reasonably modest price. We figure they will make nice stocking stuffers. And of course we'll also bring a kilo or so of those inestimable Kampot black pepper corns, easily the world's best pepper. Who would have thought...?
Well, I said that she had an uncanny method of knowing that I am about done and then gets nice. They showed up, mostly on time, did not mention any of the comments or complaints of the previous week and we had a fine time. Go figure.
