My love hate relationship
Hip hop has always been a friend and enemy. I grew up hearing the sounds of LL Cool J, Curtis Blow and NWA. I found it empowering that as a person of color people questioned the system and brought the reality of what we see to the screen and on wax. However, I have fallen out of love with hip hop because it has lost sight of a message. -

As I sit behind my screen and look back on my journal entries I feel like all they are, are bitter diatribes of how much I missed my ex and how there is this huge battle in myself to find my path and really focus on my passions in life. I am continuing to have a rough week. Yesterday, I found out that one of the kids at my school died in a really bad car wreck on Crenshaw and it hurt. Some jerk ran a red light and killed four children and injured three other members of the family. A family of 7 went to a family of three in an instant. School ends in two weeks and I have one word EXHAUSTED, I also teach literacy so I am at some type of educational institution six-eight hours a day. I sometimes punish my kids for trying to weasel out of doing their h.w. while here I am typing in my journal as oppose to reading, oh the irony of it all.... -

The research continues and now I have come to a thesis that I am satisfied with which is the History and the evolution of the Femme identity. My argument being that the Femme identity is a self-sustaining identity without the Butch dynamic.
