Legend of Korra season finale

Jun 27, 2012 20:44

For those of you who don't know, I am an avid Avatard. I loved The Last Airbender, so when Korra came out, I was thrilled. It didn't disappoint for the entirety of the first season - elenuial and I loved it - and we followed faithfully.

Until we watched the finale tonight. Hoo boy, was that not how I would have ended it.

Cut for spoilers. )

argh!, rantypants

I completely agree. I think that having her have to relearn all the bending while getting use to the fact she only has access to air bending would have made a much better story.

The "romatic tension" was utter crap from the moment that they introduced Asami.

Not a fan of how much the councilor changed from ruthless politician willing to bloodbend everyone to get control of the city to the sad little boy who never wanted to do it or what he did to his brother at the end.

Hell having Kitara able to fix Korra would have been better.

...still going to watch next season, too.

I'm glad you did enjoy it! And I can understand where you're coming from, even though I don't personally agree.

I still feel as though everything was rushed and forced in the last five minutes, and there was so much that could have been done with, well, everything. It seemed as though they were in such a hurry to resolve everything (even with Mako, they resolved the big hurdle, and everything else can be crafted from that jumping point, but the choice is over) that it left a sour taste in my mouth.

That being said, if I hadn't seen the last five minutes or so (and maybe if they had extended it an episode to explore more of Korra's emotions at being stripped of bending?) I would have really enjoyed it much more! And I loved the rest of the season!

I can certainly agree that a whole lot happened in the last five minutes, and I do see the case for feeling it was rushed.

I'd be interested to see if perhaps Korra regrets making the decision so quickly in Book 2 - she was elated to have her bending back, it was a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. It would be a nice echo to Katara's feelings after she and Aang kissed before the invasion.

Regardless, I am excited for next season.

I had some issues with the finale. Admittedly most of my issues with the finale have to do with the Asami-Mako-Korra crap, as have most of my issues with the Series ( ... )

Okay, I do like that idea of Avatar State as needing to shore up her weakness re: Healing, but I would still have liked to see her do more to achieve it. That being said, your take was not one I'd had before and I like it.
