Of course, the way Sirius made him out to sound he seemed unimportant and a bit of a wuss. Some of that is just Sirius's dislike of his little brother, but if Voldemort wasn't intrested in killing him he couldn't have been too much of a bother.
So why would someone with such pure-blood ideals who is apparently a bit of a chicken steal something so important (adn so hard to get) from Voldemort? What was his motivation? What did he do with the trinket? We knew, without a doubt, that Regulus is dead so where is the piece now?
As for Tonks/Lupin. She took my favoirte character and paired her with someone I hated with a bit of a passion. So... That's not working out well with me.
Didn't Sirius once say that the reason that Regulus was killed by Voldemort was because he had suddenly "wanted to turn back" or because he had "regretted" his decision to become a death eater? I don't know why I remember reading that somewhere... hm. Must research it further.
Here's the quote: (Sirius) "From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out."
I think that just from the quote "got in so far", it is possible that Regulus would have been able to find out about the Horcruxes and possibly take the one at the black lake.
I without a doubt, agree that it is Regulus Black, and have the distinct impression that the horcrux is in Grimmauld Place, which has been handed over to Harry. Perhaps there is something in the will that we don't yet know about? Perhaps the object has directly been given to Harry with the will, but he has no knowledge of it? Perhaps Mundungus has taken it with the rest of the Black family objects?
Remember JK said that there was a "reason" she killed Sirius? Couldn't that be the reason?
I on the other hand, quite liked the Tonks/Lupin pairing. Thought that part was actually quite cute.
I thought of Grimmauld Place as the place where the Horcrux could be hidden because I speculate that perhaps Regulus was able to hide the object in this home, which, on its own, is unplottable, and without giving any knowledge to any of the other members of his family.
In addition, his parents, according to Sirius, got 'cold feet' (p.104- Bloomsbury edition) when they saw what Voldemort could do to obtain power... which could also be important...
Regulus was my first choice also...but from what we know of him, I don't think he would have been able to 1) figure out the horcrux thing, 2) find one/any of them, 3) get to the bowl 4) get the horcrux, and 5) get out. He seems to have been very much a follower, and something of a coward.
Don't know who else it would be...probably some new character to be conveniently introduced in book 7. 9_9
It's got to be Regulus, of course. But Harry's mind is probably more on "OMG DUMBLEDORE'S DEAD WOE" than "hmm, I wonder if this vague note was written by my dead godfather's dead brother who he told me about almost two years ago?"
I can see many Sirius/Remus fangirls being hurt by this one!
This R/S fangirl is just happy that Remus is happy. Doesn't mean that he never loved Sirius; in fact, that he put off Tonks's advances for so long could be his sort of mourning. Mhmm.
Anyway, I'm sort of worried for Tonks, because I like her even if she seduced my poor Moony, and since everyone that ever really cared about Remus dies, my thoughts are she won't survive book 7. :'(
This R/S fangirl is just happy that Remus is happy.
Not me. As a Remus fan I am thoroughly upset that he is happy. Part of what I loved about him was how tortured he was and how (or so I believed) he would never let anyone get close to him for fear of their safety. It was very noble and very self-exiled and I just ate it up. I wanted him to stay on the outside looking in on all the happiness. I liked it like that. (How horrible am I?)
On the other hand, when Tonks was supposedly in love with Sirius I liked that.
Of course, Mooney being my favoirte and Tonks being my least favorite of the order members probably didn't help.
I don't actually think he's happy, per se. I shouldn't have said that. After all, he's still in love with Sirius omg. But with Tonks he should be able to get his mind off it for a while, even while he angsts about using Tonks to get rid of his agony. XD
Hehe, I agree with you. To me, Tonke/Lupin was okay... Perhaps because it happened so randomly at the end that it was kind of a shock. Yet, somehow, I enjoyed that scene... Oh well.
I had to reread it a couple of times to make sure it was really happening. It spoilt the pace for me :D I was too busy feeling sorry of Dumbly when the T/L bombshell hit!
Hehe, I saw it coming while reading HBP. It hit me during 'The Caves' chapter because, er...well, I'm not sure why. But I always keep in mind sub-plots because they usually tie in at the end and I was wondering how Tonk's situation would be explained. The two parts that really stuck out to me were:
No, I haven't been in contact with anybody very much," said Lupin. "But Tonks has got her own family to go to, hasn't she?" "Hmmm," said Mrs. Weasley. "Maybe. I got the impression she was planning to spend Christmas alone, actually." She gave Lupin an annoyed look, as though it was all his fault she was getting Fluer for a daughter-in-law instead of Tonks...
And then, after it had already been mentioned that Harry was disappointed Lupin hadn't been sending him letters:
"You haven't had any letters from anyone in the Order recently

I felt really sorry for Tonks while she was all depressed. But Lupin?!?! I'll need to re-read OotP and try and pick up some hints of romance!
It annoyed me a bit how heavy this book was on who's dating who given that there hasn't been that much in previous books.
But you can totally see the world of fan fiction getting turned upside down!

(I read a theory that Tonks is Sirius in disguise. Alright, it's crazy but OMG how cool would that be?)
