Agreed, although I think it was a topic discussed before, between Snape and Dumbledore. Snape had to kill him if Draco couldn't, because of the vow. He was protecting Harry, the Order, and Draco's innocence by killing Dumbledore, and that's what Dumbledore wanted. He knew he was going to die, even before they got to the cave. He alludes to it.

I agree, I was wondering myself if Dumbledore made Snape promise the same thing he made Harry promise "...No matter what Harry" "I have your word?"...
