Title: Not Just Any
Author: kellychambliss
Characters: McGonagall, Snape
Rating: PG-13?
Warnings: intimations of unseemly professorial behaviour
Prompt: westernredcedar: "Lavender's freak-out in the hospital wing -- from Snape's POV" / I didn't actually manage Snape's POV, but I think it should be possible to winkle out his opinion of Lavender's melt-down.

Wow, this is fantastic -- you nailed both their voices and surprised me with an unexpectedly hot payment for their bet. Snape sure has a way of sneering "precious Won-won", among my favorite lines here. Really sharp. ;)

Thank you! I haven't written much Snape, but he's really fun to imagine; I get so I can actually hear him. . .

So wonderful to hear Severus actually chatting - particularly when his lines are written so well. And this kind of fanfic is turning Minerva into one of my favourite characters.

Glad you enjoyed it. McGonagall is my OTC, and for some reason, the idea of her paired with Snape really appeals to me.

I always knew McGonagall was hardcore.

The originality of this was awesome. Very well done.

Absolutely loved this!
Favorite line: "Precious Won-won has already been shown more concern than his general Weasley-ness warrants.
And otherwise, his sycophants might start trying to slip him an inferior brew."
And Puce Brown and that great last line. All in all, three points for Sev, one for Min. And now I understand why they both remained silent in that hospital ward. Some you win, some you lose, both can be very pleasant and ... in a way ... relaxing, indeed!

Thanks! Yeah, I think Snape definitely, um, comes out on top in this one.

But as you say, there are no real losers here. /g/

I much prefer this explanation to the weird teacher silence in that hospital scene.

This is a fantastic character study, as well as an entertaining story. I really like the way you use movie and book canon in conjunction: this definitely feels like an authentic, offstage scene.

Thanks! I love offstage teacher scenes, and this prompt seemed like a perfect excuse to write one. (Just reread "New Edition" ... just as funny/perceptive the second time around.)
