Title: The Changeling Bride Author: minnow_53 Pairing: Merope Gaunt/Tom Riddle Rating: PG Summary: After she’s married, Merope shows her true colours. AN: The Tom Riddle in the fic is Voldemort's father.
Oh! This was so worth waiting for! I wasn't drawn to the story of Merope and her Tom Riddle in canon and when I first encountered her in fanfiction, it was with trepidation. But it's in the imagination of talented authors, like yourself, that she begins to come into her own and I can "see" her. I am a fan of old fairy tales, especially the Grimm brothers' collection. They are often as violent and bloody as any crime drama and don't always have a happy ending. I find the style of this story in keeping with those even if the time period is different. And I will treasure it for that besides it's relevance to the Potterverse.
Besides, for the first time ever, I may be able to guess the author!
I was absolutely delighted to get such a lovely comment, but also a bit anxious because I wasn’t sure it was written with me in mind... I just hope you’re not disappointed with the reveal. At any rate, thank you very, very much! :)
Having said that, I did write the fic, so I’m really happy you liked it. I love fairy tales too, and I'm fascinated by their meanings and variations.
I liked this a lot. You handled all our questions in a natural way and Merope her fantasies and her dreams came alive in the story. The chamber-maids seemed real, Tom Riddles confusion was convincing. (The classical scholar part was well done.)
This is so atmospheric! Really well done. Poor Merope - despite what she's done wrong, I feel for her, but I could also feel the fear of the Muggle girls here.
I love the last line, in which the narrator speaks such truths.

I also feel for Merope! It would be interesting to know what might have happened if she'd kept up her charms, whatever they were, for good.
So sorry about the edit! Missing word.
