In which Fleur shows class, Tonks makes a scene, Harry is stupid, selfish and insensitive, and we are told repeatedly that Gandalf Rasputin Dumbledore is DEAD.
(
Also, there is an abundance of swooning, continuity is deader than James and Lily, and I quote Monty Python. )

That is a really good point - it hadn't even occurred to me before.

How convenient that the kids had the Felix Felicis potion this year. No kidding! Why don't the DE's have a whole boat-load of this on hand, esp with Snape's brewing skills? Why, they'd win the war in 10 pages! It's too big of an idea to just be tossed out to the kids so they conveniently win this round.
So I guess that Bill is going to turn very shy now, and avoid looking at anyone except the human he perceives as the person in charge of him. But this isn't really Remus, is it? I figured Bill might do the obligatory liking of raw meet, maybe get ridiculously itchy and antsy around the full moon, act more territorial, etc etc. Just a bit wolfy in base habits.
Some people have questioned Lupin's breaking down at Dumbledore's death. He didn't break down when Sirius was slain by the Deadly Drapery of DOOM--why would he break down now? Thank you for pointing this out! I might be a coughhuges/rshippercough but this made sense to me anyway. Lupin's ( ... )

Personally, I'm not to fond of the reverse-sexism that sometimes appears with the strong female characters (and I'm not too fond of Mary Sues, either). I speak in general terms, not particulars. It's not that Tonks has lost her strength that I mind about her in HBP, it's that to go from as cheerful as she was in OotP to as depressed as she is in HBP - just a few months later! - makes her seem manic-depressive. I mean, come on.
Also, Lupin is not awesome enough to cause that kind of despair. That is all.

Cancer often gives a large display of being strong, just to hide the fact that really, inside they're weak. Constant self-doubt and worried that others won't like them fuel their need to mimic those who are stronger than they are.
Cancer is well known for its skill at mimicry and for putting on a bright and powerful display when they're trying to hide that they're really blue.
This I think is also reflected upon the fact that Tonks can mimic other people's forms and appearances. She has a distracting outer shell which just hides a softer inner core. Like the crab that depicts the sign of Cancer.

I absolutely love Fleur in this chapter. When i was reading it the first time I actually yelled "Damn right! You tell them girl!" at that part. I mean....geez....
The Tonks\Lupin totally threw me too, it was so ridiculouslu out of place and inapropriate..
wonderful spork.

THANK YOU. I felt she was ludicrously OOC in this scene. The Minerva I know would have been, "We are burying him here whether the Ministry likes it or not."
He felt no curiosity at all about R.A.B.: He doubted that he would ever feel curious again.
Meanwhile, 23487652743652735 fans (myself included) log into LJ and post, "ZOMG IT'S REGULUS BLACK!!!!!!!11 YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!" :)

And you know, considering the fact that Harry had very few convos with his supposedly-beloved godfather, you'd think that he'd remember that Sirius mentioned his little brother whose first name was Regulus and whose last name was Black. Hmmmm...R.B. Now I wonder if his middle name could possibly begin with A?
But figuring all that out would have required Harry to have a working brain.

The Hand of Glory - stealing someone’s life might count, and he wouldn’t want the other DE to fall asleep. Just a thought.
I am just so going to write that book ‘101 Uses for a Dead Wizard’ - any suggestions gratefully accepted.
it had not been Sinus that Tonks had fallen in love with after all. I snorted at the typo. “Oh, noes! She waiting for someone who has a longer snout at least once a month.
