Nice Adaptation, and very fitting for Draco's situation. I loved your images and vocabulary choices. It's clear that this was as lovingly crafted as a pair of Draco's shoes (with or without buckles). I was a little surprised by the kiss at the end. With Draco's healing heart, I thought he might need a little more time, but Christmas is a grand time for a kiss, so I suppose it was fitting. Well done!

That comment was me. Should really pay attention to see if I'm logged on through my phone or not. Anyway, well done, again!

Thank you, Anon. I did particular care with the wording on this, hoping to give it a fairy tale sort of feel. I'm so glad you picked up on that. As for that kiss, perhaps it was soon. I'm not sure. I'll have to mull that one over. Definitely was no major snogging session, I'll give you that! But a small, soft kiss? I'd like to believe he was ready for that. :)

Than you for your kind words and thank you for reading. <3

Edit: Ooops, thank you, No-longer-anon! :)

This was so well written. I liked your depiction of Draco as the stubborn survivor. His fastidiousness and high standards were endearing. Even as he barely had enough coin for sustenance, he still paid for the finest materials. It was all of that classic Draco pride channelled into something new and beautiful. McGonagall was a wonderful presence in the story. I can imagine her as someone who would keep tabs on all of her former students and want the best for them, especially if they are working to improve. Draco's relationship with Trilly was so sweet. I loved the bit about it being a good Christmas partially because he'd heard her sing.

This was a tender story done with such a delicate touch. A perfect bedtime story!

Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely detailed comment. I'd hoped to make it read a bit like a fairy tale, so I love that you thought it would make a nice bedtime story. That's just what I was aiming for.

I tried to keep Draco as stubbornly prideful as I could while tearing his world apart so he could be prideful of the right things as he put everything back together again. And yes, McGonagall would want the best for him, wouldn't she? She saw clearly how he was just a boy during the war... Oh, and dear Trilly, I loved writing her and her little songs. I sort of just wanted to hug them all. <3

Well, anyway, thank you, again, for your kind words, and thank you for reading!

~Squeeeeee!! This is an absolute gem! It's warm and heartfelt, flangsty yet soothing, compelling and with an ethereal touch to it. It's such a lovely adaptation of the tale of 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' by the Grimm brothers! I love that the story was told from Draco's pov and his voice was so.... noble and humble and gentle yet prideful (the way he talks about his shoes and the fine craftsmanship that made them) and rather sharp at times. It's like... Draco's still himself, only just more mature and humbled. I love it! I love him, your Draco! I am utterly irrevocably in love with this humbled, noble, prideful man! And omg Harry! Dear sweet old oblivious Harry! I love that he held no grudges towards Draco and I love that he was so sweet and earnest in befriending Draco. I melted when he defended Draco in that pub against those nasty slurs. And the elves! Such cute, loyal and kind elves! My eyes watered, you know. Towards the end. When Draco struggled to make tiny little shoes and Tilly sang to him and petted him... and Harry ( ... )

Oh, this was simply marvelous - I love your way with words, the way that the story is at once as simple as a childhood fairy tale but yet saucy and grown-up, full of innocence and hints of adult feelings. I'm thrilled at the way you worked the house elves in and what their stories were, and it was great to see so many folk change their mind about Draco, because it certainly seemed like he deserved it here. Really, really lovely.

Aww, thank you so much. I tried to make it a bit like a fairy tale and I'm glad that came through for you as a reader. And yes, didn't those Grimm Brothers elves fit so perfectly into the HP-verse? I thought so!

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to comment. <3
