This is long and engaging and there were moments in it that made me smile. You've definitely hooked me from the very beginning with the whole Malfoy heritage issue, but the thing I like best was the interactions between all the characters - the amicable separation between Harry and Ginny, the bond between Albus and Harry, Scorpius and Draco and everything in between. I thought your characterisations were spot on - you've written everyone in such a way that they seem like grown-up versions of themselves yet they didn't lose the essence of what makes them, them. Draco's combination of bitterness, insecurities, his need to preserve the Malfoy's customs and traditions is very IC, as well as his need to live up to his father's high expectations even after his death. And it's great to see the same father-son relationship projected onto Scorpius's relationship with Draco. Also, loved Harry in this - he's the Harry we all wish he would become. He's a great parent despite his dysfunctional childhood and he's more matured, a lot less explosive ( ... )

Thank you!

I'm interested in relationships between the characters that aren't simply fluffy. (One of the reasons I don't read a lot of AS/S is that most of it is too fluffy for me, or too much a retread of H/D with a lot of the conflict removed). At the same time, Draco has a lot of reasons to ignore rather than follow what Lucius says to him, so I'm glad you thought the relationship between them was convincing.

Harry got off much easier than Draco in this story! I picture him in this world as much better-adjusted than he used to be, confident in his bonds with his friends- even Ginny- and inured to problems in parenting, because after all no one is perfect, and he'd have a lot of chances to observe that with the Weasleys. So all of that works out to his wanting to save Scorpius and get together with Draco at the same time.

I hadn't bothered to look at anything beyond the summary before I read this and as I'm becoming more and more enchanted I'm thinking to myself ... Hmm, it's so hard for me to find writers that write Draco just the way I love him with his own special way of thinking. I inhaled the story and loved it and then, of course, checked out the author and it was YOU!! I should have known. I really should have known ... you found yet another way to make me smile.

Well, thank you! I took a slight risk with this Draco, I think, in that he's bitter and anxious and not the best parent, or at least not capable of showing his love for Scorpius in the best way. It was a challenge to understand and rework him, or let him rework himself.

I loved the first part of the story that involved Harry trying to help Draco and Scorpius! Interesting read :)

Thank you!

I don't know how literally we're meant to take pure-blood, but I think it's an interesting idea. They certainly put a lot of emphasis on descent.

I thought this a wonderful story. Sorry I can't be more in-depth about why I liked it but it's late, I'm tired and I stayed up late to finish reading it! Thank you so much for sharing.
