You can't join the army!!! Jaysus, the reasons are too long to list! I feel like I've seen this happen so many times before. People get seduced by the free school and financial buffer the army touts. You are waaaaaayyy too smart for the kind of idiots you will be surrounded by. That is a dangerous situation in which to have access to guns.

That said, I respect any decision you make, and I don't mean to cast judgment over the important details of your life. This is just one direction I never thought I'd see coming from you.

Well, I went to military school, and there were parts of the environment that I can recognize as having done me some good. I don't seem to have enough self-discipline to get things done on my own, so a structured environment works for me in that respect. And I'm noticing that I'm getting less and less patient with... I dunno, nonessential things, in regards to whatever I'm doing. Procedures and requirements that make no sense, in everyday life. There's something in the military mindset that doesn't tolerate that kind of thing, because (hopefully) everything's geared towards the mindset of getting-things-done-in-order-not-to-be-shot-or-exploded.

And I do look pretty cool in a uniform.

Also, you should visit my city sometime. You'll see that, for the most part, I'm surrounded by idiots now. :)

Besides, think of the fun posts I'll be making about army life. There could be a movie script in there somewhere.

Alright love, we've discussed this before and you know I think that you joining is a bad idea. That being said, I can understand your need for structure, your desire for direction, and yes, the military will give that to you. If you must join, will you at least go through officer training school to become some sort of spy drone operator or something? That will keep you off of the battlefield for the most part and make it less likely that you get blown to bits. There are those of us crazy people that really care about you and would be devastated if you were hurt or killed, ok?

Aw. Thanks. :) I'm thinking that since I'm not some 20-year-old kid, they won't put me out there where speed and agility is a factor. Not that I'm not still fast, but they'll go with probability. I'll probably wind up in supply and logistics at worst, though I think I'll go for languages (japanese or chinese, ideally) and wind up in communications.

I hadn't thought of flying the spy drones... Hm. History of video games for the win!

Umm... Hi! guess who is on pain killers? MEEEE!!!
So... saying something... Oh!

I don't think it is a horrible idea for you to join. I can relate to the "what am I doing now?" and the need for structure. I also think you should get some training/schooling before you go in so they don't just use you as a grunt. Not that you'd be a bad grunt, but you are too smart for it. Not very fond of you going away. I know we don't always get to spend a lot of time together (we should do the day in the city thing we used to, I miss it), but I do get to hang out with you fairly often and I like that. You could join in the reserves! Ha! Good idea. I win.

I think it'll be interesting. And hey, who knows, maybe I'll come back with a tank or something. :)
