So I'm back at Purdue! It's been pretty cool to be back as there isn't much homework yet, people don't need much help in the Chem Resource Room and my research advisor is out of town. This week hasn't been too bad so far. With the minor exception of the GRE's, in which I didn't get as high of a score on the quantitative section as I would've liked, and at least for Virginia Tech my scores are slightly lower (verbal) and slightly higher (quant.) than the typical lower limits for admission. I can't believe the summer's almost over!! I'm really sad about it. It has been so great being here with all the interesting and fun people, and the research that I managed to tie-up last minute. This past weekend my REU (summer research) program took us all to the Adirondacks for a long weekend of camping and hiking. It was really a great weekend. Friday we drove over 6 hrs up there, and after dinner a bunch of us went on a night hike without using flashlights. Today was supposed to be a very positive, productive day. I've pretty much wrapped up my arsenic (V) experiments (adsorbing them onto calcite) so I was doing the calculations to start the arsenic (III) ones. When... I got to go to the city for 4th of July, it was great fun! It was surprising we went at all because people couldn't decide what they wanted to do, either go to the beach or into the city.
