Dude! This is awesome! I'm unable to form deep, thinky thoughts right now, but these parallels do kind of suggest that there might be something going on with Castiel.
However, because I kind of hope that Cas is not evil, I have another theory. So, what if Cas is not a free agent, but instead of him being controlled by a nefarious entity (meaning Zach and the likes), he is/will be controlled by God? I may sorta be planning a meta that ponders briefly on God's involvement, so that's where this is coming from...

Or.. is God. Or...... who knows? :D *sigh* I still want Bobby to be God.
Dunno. The red herrings, they be flyin'.

I noticed one more tiny parallel between Ruby and Castiel. In season 4 Ruby was known to be a rogue demon, yet she always was "hearing" things about what was going on in the demon world. In this episode, Dean says the Colt has been melted down, but Castiel says that "they" don't believe it. In both cases, supernatural beings that are supposed to be repudiated completely by their peers, still keep getting information from those peers. OTOH, I have never completely trusted Castiel, and I still don't. One of the things the trip to the future does is to continue to prove Castiel's loyalty to Dean, even to the point of becoming mortal. I just don't trust it at all.

Yep. And did you notice that Zachariah made sure Dean focused the blame for his whereabouts being discovered on the "Bible Thumper?" I kept thinking either, "Zach doth protest just a bit too much and obviously," or it was a rather clumsy way of making sure the audience kept up with who did what when.
Mmm mm mmmmm. Think we're going to be waiting a good long time before we know what's behind THAT door.
I must say, reading this and looking at the visuals made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Doesn't it. I started off with noticing the parallel in the flower boxes and the call-backs just kind of spiraled out from there. I *like* Castiel, and adore Misha, so I wasn't expecting what I found at all. I stared at those last 2 pics for a long time with nothing more coherent running through my brain than, "Whoa."
The brothers seem to be working on their relationship, but I wouldn't put it past Kripke to keep Cas's true purpose like an ace in his sleeve till the end of the arc.
Me too. I can almost see him ducking his head down and chuckling evilly, the stinker.
Seeing Future Cas in The End did suggest that his loyalty to Dean was solid, but when Dean said 'welcome to the club' (the human race), Cas replied, thanks, but I used to be a member of a much better club, indicating that being human was a poor second best.Yeah, I have yet to decide if it was really the future or a Angelrama-Disneyland. So, I'm not
