Fascinating meta, as always. I would so love you to be right about this, but I suspect the writers will not be willing to mess with their golden egg layer.

Yeah, it seems to all hinge on that. Maybe we'll stage an intervention and sic Josh Whedon on Kripke. *g*

It sure would be a kick in the pants if CASTIEL turned out to be evil and working against the brothers.

But we must not forget: He freed Sam from Bobby's panic room, knowing what the outcome would be.

Isn't that suspicious?

Yep. Someone, and I'm afraid I've forgotten who, posted that when frame the conflict as being between Sam and Dean, we're missing the whole point. It's humanity against the supernatural, be they demons or angels. It's Sam and Dean, neither one more right or perfect than the other, working together against forces that would destroy humanity. I like that.

This is really interesting! I do love me some good parallels. I still think Cas is one of the good guys *but* I would love it if he at some point starts to feel tempted and want Paradise on Earth again which would be in direct opposition to our human heroes' wishes. Not for any overly sinister reasons exactly, but because while he's fond of humans, he doesn't *want* to *be* human--he's still an angel and he misses his family. It's a possible route for the character to take, especially if he finally meets God and gets totally disillusioned that He's not as great and good and glorious as he's hoped for.

Yeah, we'll see, won't we. Soooo many different possibilities out there. :)

This season is freaking me out so much that I can't even think about possible parallels or finer plot points. I just hope that when Dean said he hadn't laughed so hard in years and all the other stuff that it was just venting. After so long of this show being all about brothers it's hard to imagine what's going to happen at the end of this season. I hope that Castiel's character remains true to his mission to find God and that he is in fact good and not bad. I guess the one thing that I did like is that at least Dean felt naked without the pendant that Sam gave him. That to me was something to hang onto that indicates hope. This season is a long road already. Let's hope it's worth traveling until the end when we look back on it. I loved your comments and pointing this stuff out, thanks!

Hey Mz. Dianne. I hope you've been reassured by the last episode.

I haven't really decided one way or the other about Castiel. Part of me is fascinated by the idea of him being a double-agent (Yaay! More angst!), but I do really like the chemistry he has with Dean and the journey of doubt and discovery he seems to be on. Dunno. Guess it's going to be a wait and see proposition.
