That means that she voluntarily imprisoned herself in the trap to go to him.
Watch closely when Sam comes back in after burying the dead demon host. They show a shot of the ground; the devil's trap is broken, and Ruby walks through it. They made a point of showing it. So she wasn't bound by it.
The rest of this is entirely fascinating, tho, and I hadn't noticed any of it! Thanks for pointing it out. :D
LOL Uhmmm.... the Virgin Mary, Mary Winchester and Ava and Anna? That's quite a group, there, isn't it. Well, they're all touched by a power greater than themselves, that's for sure.
Very interesting stuff about the blue rose. Hmmm... must cogitate about the possible implications of "attaining the impossible," though it's the "mystery" that is certainly more compelling at this point.
Oh my God, LJ just ate my comment TWICE. But anyway, Sam also sweeps Ruby up out of the devil's trap, so, yeah, symbolism? And she did voluntarily walk into it in order to stab that guy while it was still closed off.
But way to notice the blue roses! It looks like there might be blue flowers on the wallpaper here where Ruby show's Sam she's a demon. Apparently, blue roses don't grow naturally, they have to be genetically engineered. I hope it doesn't mean anything really bad for Ruby, though. Maybe just that we have yet to get to the bottom of her?
I KNOW! What is up with that? Odd and peculiar code popping up and then scurrying underground when you try to seek and destroy? Random logging out in the middle of posting? WTF, LJ? :P
Interesting interesting. I'll have to go back to prior episodes, too, and see if there were hints all before this. I'm voting for the "mystery" symbolism of the blue rose. We're definitely being "told" to trust her, but these blue roses all over the place give an edge of underlying, "Uh-oh." It's a nice dichotomy for the purposes of storytelling.
Oh, yay! I noticed the return of the Blue Rose Motel, too. All I managed to do was flail around a bit about it, though. http://icine.org/blogs/supernatural/2008/11/15/motel-wtf-moment-in-409/ (Sorry, I don't know how to do the code for links in comments.) I love that you noticed the window and the flower print. That answers the question I had about just how intentional what I caught really was
( ... )
How about the hospital gown Ruby's new body is wearing when she takes possession of it? Blue with the suggestion of abstract flowers? Or is that seeing what I want to see? (sreencap by oxoniensis)
There's also fanatic Gordon's mission to strike preemptively because in his view destiny is all. Just the reminder of Gordon (who killed his own sister) makes me nervous.
Huh! Well, well, well. And that's an interesting parallel between Gordon and team Castiel/Uriel, isn't it. Both righteous and both advocating striking preemptively. That's, uh, downright scary if you ask me. 0.o
Fabulous comments and great catch on Ava and the flowers at the motel room.
I'm wondering if there are flowers in the glass window at that hovel Sam stayed at with Ruby? Another color/image thing I've noticed at that place was the use of lots of green. The walls were broken and green leaves and trees seems to be poking their way into the house, taking over. Any thoughts on that?
All I could think was the garden of Eden! LOL! I don't know if it means anything.

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I checked but didn't see any. Doesn't mean I didn't miss them if they were there.
LOL I hadn't thought of the garden of Eden, though that's a seriously mind-bending idea. :) My own thoughts tended more toward the, "Wow, Sammy has really withdrawn from the real world, hasn't he."
