Yeah, I felt like starting from killing her brother and continuing from there, the writers have been slowly, systematically crushing any realistic chance of Elena falling for Damon ever. On any plane of any universe. But no, it turns out he's a "hero in villain's clothing". OH OKAY. Did you read the latest interview from the showmakers?
It felt very much that it was earned for Damon to finally get some kind of acceptance and compassion and reciprocation to the feelings he’s made very clear. He needed it, and Elena (Nina Dobrev) needed to give it to him....OH. Right, because that's how relationships work. Emotions are currency, and Damon's earned her fucking reciprocation. (HOW, I'd love to know.) Fuck Elena's romantic agency and her feelings for Stefan because Damon dying and he needs something which means Elena needs to give it to him

HOW? HOW? Even if I accept the premise that emotions are currently, how does Damon getting BIT BY A WEREWOLF mean that he suddenly deserves Elena's love? I do not get it.
Haven't watched yet but tumblr tells me I'm going to enjoy the Bonnie bits, be amused at the Jeremy bits, and fast forward everything else. I sometimes almost wish the show would just kill Bonnie off so I don't have to watch it anymore.

but clearly, that's not their intention.
They DO want to give him a redemption arc. But they would rather not do it in a way that actually means anything, where he actually realizes he's not entitled to Elena's love AND that that fact is not a justification for him to get mad and kill people. To them "redemption arc" means emotional manipulation, bringing him to the brink of death and making him look as pitiful as possible, and then have him make all these desperate realizations in the space of one episode. Now all of a sudden everyone forgets what he did because he's pretty and he's dying? Sheeeeeeit.
Makes me respect what Whithouse did with Mitchell on Being Human even more.

lol. Okay but to me, that's not a real redemption arc. At all! Especially when we've yet to see him apologize to anyone other than Elena for all of the AWFUL things he's done. Or show any true remorse for his actions.

YES! As hard as that arc was to watch sometimes, it was the only way to do it properly and I LOVE Whithouse for being able to go there.
I'm pulling for Matt/Caroline just because I like Matt and dislike Tyler. *kanyeshrug*
ME TOO, OMG.
I'm so so sick of Damon, which is such a shame, because I found him so enjoyable last season. But MY GOD, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP BEING THE WORST, DAMON.
