...hi?

Hi.

Okay:

+ So work and life and school have been busy enough that it's easier for me to microblog lately, over on Tumblr and Twitter. You can pretty much always find/follow me over there. I keep trying to make posts here but never feel like I have anything interesting to say, and I feel worse as time passes, and and and. ( Read more... )

I adore Bare Minerals. My little quibble with it is that it takes time to put it on, but in spite of that, it's simple enough to use. It's awesome because it doesn't make you look like you fell on a cake.

Other than that, I'm not particular with make-up. I just like putting eye-liner at the top of my lid, not beneath it, and if you can stand mascara, use it! If you want as little makeup as possible, making up the eyes is the best place to have it.

I used to love lipstick, but I've been so busy lately that its been a bother to keep reapplying it--not to mention dealing with the dryness. But I like a good, flattering color, even if it doesn't necessarily stand out. I can never feel comfortable with the bold shades, but I'm told it makes an impression. With lipstick, just go with what strikes your mood for the day. The whole process ought to be fun, anyway. :D

I'm hoping the extra time won't be noticeable for me because I don't have anything to compare it to. ;) But I hear it feels the best on, very light, which is my main consideration. That and a nice range of skin tones so I can find the right one for me. But apart from that, I'm way more excited about playing with eye makeup. ;)

I heard something about lip stain yesterday rather than lipstick? apparently it's more subtle with less rubbing off/re-applying? I'm gonna check it out.

i feel you on not having a fandom anymore! it's frustrating when, um, that's why everyone's here. also when lj is indeed ridic. but i really hope everything works out and you find a part-time job; just feeling piled up under stress is awful. :[

Aw thanks! I'm hoping it'll be okay, a good tradeoff or whatever.

Not having a fandom is SO WEIRD. I mean, that's why *I* was here mostly. But then I realise how many people I managed to connect with along the way that makes leaving pretty distasteful to me. WILL TRY NOT TO BE A LURKER FOREVER.

I'm also glad you're progressing well with your knitting. What else have you knitted so far?

Also, following you on tumblr. :)

Following back!

I've just done a lot of small things really! Cowls, scarves, mittens and hats in different styles. I want to work up to a sweater dress. XD

I just barely decided to start wearing makeup too, despite the previous 32 years living quite fine without. I went on a bit of a shopping spree at Sephora and purchased $250 worth of makeup, but most days I still seem to be minimalist and use only 4 items:

Smashbox primer
Goes on after moisturizer, but before foundation - except that I don't wear foundation on my minimalist days. There are a bunch of different formulations based on your skin type. I have a lot of red/pink in my face since my Mom's a red-head, so I use the green tube which pretty much makes all that red disappear and evens out my skin tone.

Smashbox eyelash primer
Like foundation for your mascara - makes mascara go on better and it lasts all day without flaking.

Bare Minerals Mascara

Smashbox lipstick
I love the color, but frankly I wouldn't recommend it because it doesn't last long. I have to re-apply about every hour, which sucks. On the other hand, their lip stain lasts a long time but the range of colors is lacking.

I would also recommend buying high-quality

Ooh I was going to check out Smashbox when I get out to Sephora next week! They seem to have a lot of good, basic stuff and a shadow pallete that looked nice.

I heard brushes are EVERYTHING, yes.
